Saint Fabian, a 3rd-century Pope and martyr, was miraculously chosen to lead the Church when a dove landed on his head at the time of his election. A courageous pastor in times of persecution, he wisely and determinedly organized the Church of Rome until his execution under Emperor Decius. His steadfast faith, sense of justice, and pastoral devotion make him a model of faithfulness. Turning to Saint Fabian through a medal is seeking to cultivate a spirit of courage, discernment, and trust in the service of others and God.
